Pleasant Lies
I was never afraid
Until I closed my eyes
And saw the horrors I have in me
I never knew their names
Never saw them smile
Until they struck their claws in me
Tear a hole in my inner defences
I'm good for anything when I'm desparate
Whisper lies, they seem so nice
Fear alone is always worth it
It works just fine as twisted leverage
Sleep tonight, they seem too nice
So what if I laughed as I was being torn apart?
It's sad but true, so what the hell
I was never scared
Of anything until
I opened the wounds I have on me
When it's all laid bare
Left unfulfilled
Piece them back together with deceit
An open book, the writer was careless
I'm good for nothing now, defenceless
An appetite for white lies
I cried, I shook but nothing ends it
A soul is pure until you rent it
For what price, for what price?
So what if I laughed as I was being torn apart?
